Special Programs (January 2022 planned start date):
Art – LCA art classes focus on the process and allowing the child to truly experience art on his own terms. Children are born naturally inclined to art. So, then, our job is to nurture that natural tendency towards creativity. I think you will agree that art is about the experience the child has with the materials, the mediums, and the textures that ultimately create the art. This idea is known as process art.
Dance – Learning, thought, creativity, and intelligence don’t just come from the brain alone, but from the entire body. Movement combinations increase memory, order, and sequencing skills. When children are provided with creative movement problems that involve the selection of movement choices, they learn to think in the concrete reality of movement. Thus, learning the art of dance helps young children develop knowledge, skill, and understanding about the world, which increases self-esteem which is so very important to learning.
Music – Music is also a means of communication and self-expression. It can be therefore seen as another form of language. The child needs to have music to absorb and instruments with which to make music. He needs the opportunity to express himself spontaneously. As a base for the child’s musical experiences, we want to provide him with the elements with which to make music. The elements are pulse (or rhythm), pitch (or tone), dynamic, timbre, and form.
Spanish – Parents know that early language immersion is one of the best ways for children to become bilingual – a privilege that has shown to have life-long benefits. Our Spanish Immersion programs are integrated into our Montessori programs, so children receive both an authentic Montessori education and a strong Spanish language program at the same time.
